Who can open a savings account online?

Every Indonesian Citizen (WNI) who has an Identity Card (KTP) and is recorded in the Population Data of the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Dukcapil).

What are the online account opening service hours?

Customers can open an account at any time 7 days a week / 24 hours a day and the video call verification process with Maybank Customer Service can be done every day from 8 AM to 6 PM WIB.

What are the specifications needed for the device?
  • Mobile device shouldn’t in “jail break” or “rooted” condition.
  • Have a mobile device operating system of at least iOS 9.0 or higher / Android 4.4.2 or higher.
  • Ensure the availability of storage mobile devices of at least 150MB.
  • Make sure you have a stable internet network, it is recommended to use a WIFI network for a more stable connection.
  • Make sure the signal is good and in a place where it's easy to get SMS. Sending One Time Password (OTP) SMS really depends on your telecommunication provider.
  • Mobile device connected with Customer’s active e-mail which registered when opening the account.
What if the customer does not get an OTP or the OTP received has expired?

Prospective customers can select the option ‘resend the OTP code’ to get a new OTP code after 1 minute from the previous OTP request and fill in the latest OTP code again in the OTP SMS field.

What if a potential customer receives a message as follows: “Sorry, your ID has been registered as a customer of Bank Maybank Indonesia. Please login to Maybank2u to open an account”

It is detected that you already have Maybank Savings, please open another savings account via the M2U ID App

Do customers get a savings book for opening a savings account online?

Opening a Maybank Savings account online does not get a savings book and customers receive electronic information which will be sent to a verified email address on a monthly basis. Please ensure that the email address used when opening the account is personal so that you can receive e-statements

How do customers fill in the data for account opening?

Following are the steps for opening a Maybank savings account:

  1. Download M2U ID on Google Play Store/App Store.
  2. Select the type of savings. Regular or Sharia savings are available.
  3. Complete personal data, prepare e-KTP.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen then take a selfie in a vertical format. Make sure the face is recorded clearly.
  5. Complete the other information, enter the NPWP number, type of work, financial data and domicile.
  6. Create a user ID, password and choose your internet banking security image. Read and agree to the terms and conditions apply.

What if the customer experiences problems during the data filling process?

Customers can try to fill in the data again for a while and make sure they have a good internet network.

How do I take the correct KTP photo?
  • Make sure your KTP is in good condition (writing and photos are not faded).
  • Photo ID card in a bright place/not in a room with poor lighting or darkness.
  • KTP photo is in or in the middle of the frame.
  • Make sure the KTP writing is legible and the camera is in focus.
  • Don't move too much when your KTP Photo.
How to take a proper selfie photo?
  • Photo in bright conditions/not in a room with poor lighting or dark.
  • Make sure no one else is around or behind you.
  • Photo must be vertical according to the camera (cannot be horizontal or tilted).
  • Make sure the selfie photo is in the middle of the frame.
  • Photo Selfie from the front facing the screen not from the bottom.
  • Do not use accessories on the face such as hats, glasses, helmets, masks and others.
  • When taking selfies, you must be still or not while moving your hands or walking.
Are there any other requirements other than account opening documents?
  • Make sure user The selected ID is still available and has not been used by someone else.
  • Create a user ID of at least 8 characters and a maximum of 20 characters which can consist of a unique combination of initials, names, dates or other numbers that are easy to remember.
  • Verification via video call with Maybank Customer Care may still be required if your data is not correct.
What is the data verification process for opening a savings account online?

In the online account opening process, if the results of verification of ID card data, selfie photos and other personal data match the data recorded in the Dukcapil savings account, it will be immediately active.

Can account opening be represented?

Cannot be represented, the account opening must be carried out by the customer himself in accordance with the KTP used to open the account, and already has his own active mobile number and his own active email.

What is temporary account?

An account that is formed when a customer opens an account online through the M2U ID App/Maybank Corporate Website but has not performed KYC verification and upgrade to become a permanent account.

This account can only be used for 14 calendar days, with a maximum balance of 1 million rupiah and limited transaction access. (Purchases, payments, QR transactions and are not allowed to make transactions such as transfer to Maybank Account, Online Interbank transfers, SKN/RTGS Interbank transfers, QR transfers and also e-money topup)

When can KYC video calls be made by the customer?

The video call process can be made by the prospective customer in the same session during the data filling process fro From 8 AM to 6 PM WIB (maximum 14 days from the start of the account opening process).

What happens if you don't make a KYC video call within 14 days?

The account will become dormant and the customer must come to the branch to do KYC

How long will the account be after doing KYC with a video call?

The maximum number of finished accounts is 24 hours

What if the video call doesn't connect?

Please make sure you have a stable internet network, it is recommended to use a WIFI network for a more stable connection.

What if I receive an unstable internet error when making a video call?

Network quality does not meet the minimum standards for making video calls. Please try restarting your cellphone to refresh the network / move location to get a better connection.

If the customer's account is temporary, apart from video calls, what options can customers do to upgrade their account to be permanent?

Customers can visit the nearest Maybank branch office to verify KYC account upgrades and collect customer ATM cards.

Can opening an online account allow me to make transactions at a branch that requires a signature?

You can't, the customer must come to the branch first to make a signature and store it in the bank's system.

Why after I opened an account I still have to come to the branch to re-open an account?

There are some data that do not match the KTP data, so manual verification is required through the Maybank branch office

How do customers find out the account number that has been formed?

After the account opening process, the customer can see the account number and debit card number.

Information regarding the account number and debit card number (if the product has a debit card feature and the card is sent to the customer's address) will also be sent to the customer's verified email address

Can Customers who open online Maybank Savings Account get a Maybank ATM/Debit Card?

Customer who opened online Maybank Savings Account can get Maybank ATM/Debit Card by applying for a ATM/Debit card through the M2U ID App( Add Card in Card Management menu) or come to visit the nearest Maybank branch.

How to Apply Maybank Debit Card

If during the account opening process I receive a message to continue opening the account at the nearest branch, can I repeat the account opening again online?

You can't, customers with this message can only proceed to the branch to open their accounts.

How do customers activate and create a debit card PIN that has been received?

After the customer receives the Maybank Debit/ATM Card, immediately activate it via the M2U ID App or SMS.

What if the customer does not get a debit card after passing the debit card delivery SLA or 'return' delivery status?

If the customer does not get a debit card after passing the SLA for delivery or 'return' delivery status, the customer can go to the nearest Maybank branch office to request a new debit card by bringing the original KTP. Or you can make a debit card request through the M2U ID App

Currently, customers who only have a Maybank Credit Card can register on the M2U ID Web (https://m2u.maybank.co.id) only and can only access the M2U ID Web. To register on the M2U ID App, an account number and ATM PIN are required.

What transactions can Maybank Credit Card customers make on M2U ID Web?

Maybank Credit Card customers can use a credit card for Telkompay payment transactions on M2U ID Web.

Can a customer register for M2U ID Web if they only own a Maybank Credit Card?

Customers who only own a Maybank Credit Card may register via M2U ID Web (https://m2u.maybank.co.id) and will only be able to access M2U ID Web. An account number and ATM PIN are necessary for registration on M2U ID App.
