Being the Chairman of Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) of PT Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk since 20 May 2003 and has been reappointed several times which his most recent reappointed through Maybank Indonesia AGMS on 31 March 2023.
Muhammad Anwar Ibrahim can continue to carry out his position and authority as Chairman of the Company's Sharia Supervisory Board, until M.Sa’ad Ih, who was appointed by the Company's General Meeting of Shareholders has effectively carried out his position and authority as Chairman of the Company’s Sharia Supervisory Board has fulfilled all the requirements based on the applicable laws and regulations.
Currently he has concurrent position as the Chairman of SSB of PT Bank OCBC NISP, Tbk (since 2009), Lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia, Jakarta Al-Quran Science Institute (since 2001), Lecturer at the Faculty of Economic, Trisakti University (since 2008), Member of the Advisory Council, BAZIS DKI Jakarta Province (since 2008), Lecturer of the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiah, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah (since 2013) and Advisory Member, Badan Wakaf Indonesia (since 2015).
Has various lecturing experiences throughout his career (1964-2016), including at the Institute of Al-Quran Sciences, Jakarta in the field of Islamic Studies, Syarief Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta and Trisakti University.
The education backgrounds that he obtained among others Bachelor degree in Islamic and Sharia Studies from the Raden Fatah Islamic Institute, Palembang (1964) and Master of Arts (1966-1969). He earned his Philosophy of Doctor in Comparative Fiqh and Usul Fiqh from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Egypt (1974-1978). Aside from that he has competency as sharia capital market expert from the Indonesia Capital Market Institute and OJK (2016).

Currently he has concurrent position as Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah In charge of Da’wah, Islamic Boarding School, Hajj and Umrah (since November 2022). He has education background of Bachelor of Shariah from IAIN Surabaya, Master degree in PS/Islamic Studies from IAIN Jakarta and Doctoral Degree in PS/Islamic Studies from IAIN Jakarta.

Indonesian citizen, 64 years old, domiciled in Indonesia.
Appointed as a member of Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) of PT Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk based on the Annual General Meeting Shareholders (AGMS) on April 1, 2024 and effective on October 23, 2024, with term of office until the closing of the Company’s AGMS in 2027.
Currently, his has served as a Chairman of SSB of PT Astra Life Syariah (since 2019), a member of SSB of PT Maybank Indonesia Finance (since 2019), Lecturer for SI and Postgraduate Programs at Universitas Gunadarma (since 2022) and Chairman of Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI).
He has education background, Bachelors Degree in Comparative Religion, IAIN Raden Fatah, Palembang, Masters Degree in Public Administration, STISIPOL, Palembang, Masters Degree in Islamic Economics, Ibn Khaldun University, Bogor and Doctoral Degree in Communication, Sahid University, Jakarta.

Currently he has current position as the Chairman of Syuro Council of IKADI (since September 2021), Member of SSB of DPENBI IP (since June 2021), Plenary Council of DSN-MUI (since April 2010), Board of Trustees of Al Hasan Foundation Bekasi (since 2005), Member of SSB of PT Bank Mega Syariah (since August 2004), Member of Board of Trustees Khusnul Khotimah Foundation Kuningan (since July 1994) and Lecturer UIN Syarif Hidayatullah (since March 1992).
He has education background of Associate’s degree in Tarbiyah/Arab Language from IAIN Sunan Gunung Djati Cirebon, Bachelor Tarbiyah/Arab Language from IAIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, MTS Al Azhar Mesir and Doctoral degree in Adab faculty/Arab Language from Al Minya University Mesir.
