Surat Berharga Negara (SBN) are financial instruments issued by the Indonesian government to finance budget deficits and development projects. SBN is a form of investment that offers attractive potential returns for investors with a relatively low level of risk. When you invest in SBN , you are actually providing a loan to the government with a promise to return the principal and interest according to the stipulated agreement.
Basically SBN is divided into 2 types, namely:
SUN is an investment instrument that is managed conventionally and provides returns in the form of interest that is paid periodically and the principal is returned at the end of the term. SUN is divided into Obligasi Ritel Indonesia (ORI) and Savings Bond Retail (SBR).
SBSN is an investment instrument that is managed according to Sharia and provides returns in the form of rent (ujrah) every month. In addition, SBSN represents partial ownership of existing assets or projects. So, as an investor, you will get a share of the profits that the project generates according to the agreement. SBSN is divided into Sukuk Ritel (SR) and Sukuk Tabungan (ST).
Following is a table of differences in the types of SBN.
