Maybank Indonesia Distributes Aid for Disaster Victims Landslides and Floods in East Nusa Tenggara

 

Jakarta, 10 May 2021 - PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk (Maybank Indonesia) is working with Toraja Melo to distribute aid to victims of floods and landslides due to Seroja tropical cyclones that occurred in several areas in the Province of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), 4 April 2021.

In early April, natural disaster has affected the community of weavers of the Maybank Women Eco-Weavers program, a Maybank Indonesia assisted program with Toraja Melo located in Lembata and Adonara, NTT. Flash floods hit several weavers' houses and damaged the weaving equipment they were using.

The Maybank Indonesia and Toraja Melo assistance for the disaster victims was in the form of much-needed supplies of food, drink, medicine and other logistics with a total value of Rp 50 million. Toraja Melo carried out the handover of this assistance to the disaster victims on April 28-29, 2021.

"Our relief program is a form of concern for Maybank Indonesia, especially for communities affected by natural disasters in the NTT region. We hope that our aid may ease the burden on disaster victims," ​​said Tommy Hersyaputera, Head, Corporate & Brand Communications, Maybank Indonesia.

Tommy continued, "Disaster response is one of the pillars of Maybank Indonesia's CSR program considering the natural conditions in the country which are prone to disasters. This encourages us to be sensitive and pay attention to the survival of our brothers and sisters in areas prone to natural disasters."

Information from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) on 10 April 2021 stated that landslides and floods in NTT had claimed the lives of 174 people spread across nine regions. As many as 48 people were still missing.
