Yogyakarta, 2 May 2024 – PT Bank Maybank Indonesia, Tbk. ("Maybank Indonesia" or the "Bank"), through its Sharia Business Unit (UUS), signed a strategic cooperation agreement with one of the largest Islamic da'wah organization in Indonesia, the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah, today, in Yogyakarta.
The signing was carried out by Director of Sharia Business Unit* Maybank Indonesia Romy Buchari and Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. The event was also attended by the Independent Commissioner of Maybank Indonesia Achjar Iljas, Head of Sharia CFS Dandy Suprandono, and members of PP Muhammadiyah.
UUS Maybank Indonesia will provide Sharia-based financial solutions for PP Muhammadiyah and its ecosystem through this collaboration. The financial solution is in the form of financing that PP Muhammadiyah can utilize gradually to meet the needs of its members. This includes the provision of Islamic banking service facilities ranging from financing solutions and transactions to financial literacy and in the field of education.
Referring to the theme of the Roadmap for the Development and Strengthening of Indonesian Sharia Banking 2023-2027, namely "Resilient Sharia Banking, for a Prosperous Society," the Islamic banking industry has a strategic role in helping to provide solutions to build an increasingly prosperous Indonesian society. In addition, Islamic banking also continues to innovate and deliver added value to the community through unique financial solutions. "As one of the largest Islamic da'wah organizations in Indonesia, established in 1912, PP Muhammadiyah is the right strategic partner to achieve the goal of developing Indonesian Sharia banking that can benefit the people of Indonesia," said the Director of Sharia Business Unit Maybank Indonesia Romy Buchari.
Romy continued that this collaboration is a manifestation of Maybank Indonesia's commitment to supporting the development of the national Islamic financial industry and halal ecosystem in Indonesia, in line with the Maybank Group's initiative, M25+, to build leadership in Islamic banking at the global level. "Our existence is not only limited to opening new business opportunities and social actions, but with this partnership, it becomes a pathway for UUS Maybank Indonesia to more actively participate in the Sharia ecosystem in Indonesia and expand the range of Sharia-based services that UUS Maybank Indonesia has," concluded Romy.
